Course curriculum
Level 5 – Robotic Arms & Colour-Sorting Systems
The most advanced level - students assemble and program a 4-DOF Robotic Arm, integrate colour sensing and IR detection, and build a fully autonomous colour-sorting robotic arm as the final project.
Session 41 –Introduction to Robotic Arms
- Demo with sample arm
- Learn DOF, actuators, and gripper types
Session 42 –Assembly of 4-DOF Robotic Arm
- Assemble base, shoulder, elbow, and gripper using servo motors
Session 43 –Controlling Servos Individually
- Interface and code servo movements using potentiometers or predefined angles
Session 44 –Sequencing Motion — Pick & Place
- Program a pick-and-place sequence: pick from A, place at B
Session 45 –Gripper Control
- Fine-tune open/close positions using push button or logic control
Session 46 –Using TCS3200 Colour Sensor
- Interface and read RGB values from objects
- Display or log colour info
Session 47 –Colour-Based Sorting Logic
- Program arm to sort objects into bins based on colour (red, green, blue)
Session 48 –Object Detection & Sorting Tray Setup
- Add IR sensor for object detection
- Full workflow: Detect → Scan → Pick → Place
Session 49 – 50Mini Project Build & Final Demo
- Students integrate all elements to build a complete colour-sorting robotic arm
- Final project demonstration
Level 5 finale: Fully Autonomous Colour-Sorting 4-DOF Robotic Arm
What you'll master in Level 5
- 4-DOF Arm Assembly - base, shoulder, elbow, and gripper with servo motors
- Servo Sequencing - potentiometer control and predefined angle programming
- Pick & Place Logic - fully programmed A-to-B object transfer sequences
- Gripper Fine-Tuning - open/close precision using push button or code logic
- Colour Detection - TCS3200 sensor reads RGB values and drives decisions
- Full Autonomous Workflow - Detect → Scan Colour → Pick → Sort into bin
Give your explorer a term they'll remember.
